‘Lux, Aqua, Aurum et Somnium’ is a concept that not only engages process, materials, the artist’s hand, and printmaking, but also harnesses the natural world. The material used for this project are linen, cotton paper, thread, monotype, aquatint, aquafort, and cyanotype developed using water from the Mediterranean sea and light from the Mediterranean sun. The symbolism is quintessentially feminine; La Luce, L’acqua, La Luna (see ‘Lux’, ‘Lunae,’ and ‘Kaos’), textiles (linen backdrop), sewing (attaching paper to linen) and birth (Incipit Vita Nova=egg/ova) all represent traditional women’s work and matriliny.
